The Council’s 2020 Apprenticeship scheme offers exciting employment opportunities in a number of different service areas across the Council.  

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is seeking to appoint a 2 Apprentice Fitness Assistants (16 - 24 years old) which will be based at our brand new flag ship facility Llys Cadwyn in Pontypridd.

The role will provide a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced members of staff, to develop skills to become a qualified exercise professional with nationally recognised qualifications. You will gain qualifications in exercise and fitness and the teaching of group exercise classes.

The Leisure Operations Team are looking for motivated and well-organised individuals who possess excellent communication skills, an outgoing and confident personality, a great team players, and a passion for working in an ever changing environment. You will work alongside experienced colleagues, gaining job-specific knowledge and skills. The scheme gives you the opportunity to earn a wage whilst learning and working towards nationally recognised professional qualifications in your chosen career path.

This is a fixed term post for a two-year period and will start in January 2021. You will be paid National Minimum Wage dependent on age: 

• 25 & over                   £8.72              21-24              £8.20
• 18 - 20                        £6.45              Under 18        £4.55 

Due to the Apprenticeship entry criteria, applications cannot be accepted from any applicant who has already gained a similar qualification at level 3 or above in the role applied for. For example, if you have a CYQ Level 3 or an equivalent academic qualification you will not be eligible to apply for a Fitness Assistant apprenticeship post. However, you could apply for any other apprenticeship post. Any such applications will not be considered. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council welcomes applications from all parts of the community.
