We are looking to recruit a pool of casual staff to cover the role of Registration Officer within the Registration Office at Pontypridd. We are looking for highly motivated and flexible individuals, with excellent customer care, administrative and communication skills.

You will be responsible for issuing legal documents, providing advice and assistance to customers accurately and uniformly in accordance with relevant legislation. Duties will include undertaking family history searches of records held locally, cash handling and bank reconciliation, booking electronic appointments, carrying out Statutory duties in relation to the registration of births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies, and to act as scribe/ officiate at non-statutory services such as Naming and Re-affirmation of Vows ceremonies and any other future services introduced by the Council. You will provide assistance and advice to clergy and keep accurate records of all returns received and payments made. You will also be expected to cover reception and undertake general office duties.

You will be expected to maintain the highest professional standards when undertaking the duties of this post and to uphold the Registration Service code of Practice for Registration Officers. Working weekends and Bank Holidays as per rotation or to be on designated stand-by together with the ability to travel independently throughout the Council are necessary requirements. Being fully conversant in the Welsh language and willing to undertake the Registrar General’s qualification whilst in post would also be desirable.
