Setting New Standards in Education

'The vision for the new organisation is clear on the scale and pace of change…’

‘Central South has the best function in place [across Wales] for the commissioning of the support…’

(ISOS/Welsh Government Review of Regional Consortia readiness to deliver – April 2013)

Who are we?

The Central South Consortium and its five partner Local Authorities together are responsible for the educational outcomes of children and young people in the most populated and economic heartlands of Wales. Nothing is more critical to us than the quality of education that our young people receive. Results are improving, but our children and young people can do much better if each and every school is delivering outstanding teaching and learning and committed to continuous improvement and growth.

What is Central South Consortium?

The Consortium have put together our resources for school improvement into one organisation which will bring scale and quality to our engagements with schools, school leaders, teachers, governors, parents and young people. We are excited about the potential for developing a really innovative, developmental school improvement organisation which gets behind the efforts of our schools and teachers to transform educational outcomes.

What do we want?

We are looking for a charismatic, creative and committed Managing Director to lead our School Improvement Consortium to its next stage of delivery.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has experience and a strong track record of making an impact in leading a school improvement organisation to significantly improve educational outcomes;
  • is innovative about school improvement, creative about new models of delivery and used to working with heads, teachers and students to generate new ideas;
  • demands high standards, is prepared to be accountable to local democracy and is unequivocal about the fight against complacency;
  • is able to galvanise a collective leadership team working with Local Authority leaders and politicians; and
  • is committed to seeing through the development of an organisation to work in partnership to get behind the efforts of schools and leaders to improve learning in Central South Wales.
