The Flood Risk Management Team are responsible for a wider range of regulatory functions principally identified within the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991:

  • Regulatory functions (Consenting and Enforcement),
  • Developing and Maintaining a Local Strategy
  • Flood Investigations,
  • Asset Management,
  • Sustainable Drainage Approval,
  • Flooding Awareness and Communication.

The team further, delivers a wide range of Flood Alleviation schemes which includes, Natural Flood Risk Management, Sustainable Drainage, Property Flood Resilience/Resistance measures along with more traditional interventions to mitigate flooding from ‘local sources’ (Surface Water, Ground Water and Ordinary Watercourses).

We are seeking to appoint a suitable person to assist with the ‘Strategic Flood Risk Management functions’ associated to the Land Drainage Authority (LDA), Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Sustainable Drainage Approval Body (SAB). The post will assist in the implementation of the Flood Risk Management Plan for RCT, lease and work with partner organisations, and evaluate and assess the project impacts, maintaining effective evaluation mechanisms and up to date databases.

The role will also support the wider responsibilities of the LLFA, SAB and LDA regulatory bodies and may assist with the management of resources, within the FRM team along with responding to complaints, queries and information requests along with considering outline and detailed planning applications for their potential affects on surface water flood risk.  

It is essential that applicants are qualified to HNC level within ‘Environmental Science’ or ‘Civil Engineering’ or a similar discipline. Applicants must demonstrate experience of GIS systems, Flood Investigations and working effectively with partners.

This position is a Temporary, Full time position available until the 31/03/2025.
