We are currently looking to employ a Casual Night Residential Child Care Support Worker to work Flexible night shift when needed at Nantgwyn Short Break Respite Home in Aberdare.

The post holder will work with vulnerable children with additional needs by providing support to sustain routine in a nurturing environment, and support young people to develop social skills, within the local community and participate in activities.

The successful applicant will be accountable to the Registered Manager for the day to day arrangements of the young person’s care plan.

You will:

  • Provide positive contributions to the quality of the service
  • Work as part of a team
  • Undertake personal care
  • Be enthusiastic, approachable, child centred and caring
  • Be responsible for your own learning and development


The specific responsibilities of the post include:

  • To prepare for and participate in planning and review meetings.
  • To share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the home.
  • To promote the well-being of residents by encouraging a healthy lifestyle, educational attainments and stimulating leisure activities.

You must be prepared to be flexible as the role will involve shift work including weekends and sleep-in duties and nights.

You will be expected to hold or be prepared to work towards a AWIF qualification and QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) and be registered with the Social Care Wales either on appointment or following completion of the Social Care Induction Framework.
