Rhondda Cynon Taf is pleased to offer an opportunity for a Senior Practitioner post within the Information, Assistance and Assessment Team & Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (IAA/MASH Team).

The IAA team is based within Rhondda Principal Office and MASH is based within Pontypridd Police Station. The role is office based and will require working across both teams where service provision dictates. Focus is required on thresholding cases to ascertain swiftly if Child Protection concerns or an Assessment of Need is identified to ensure appropriate intervention is referred onto for children, young people and families.

As a Senior Practitioner you will be expected to manage a defined caseload and work in a challenging yet supportive and rewarding team environment. You will be expected to take on a mentoring role where required with newly qualified practitioners and commit to your own development. Within this role you will be expected to deputise on occasion for the Team Manager. You will also receive regular informal and formal supervision and there are numerous and appropriate training opportunities available.  

You should also possess a sound understanding of the practice implication of the Children’s Act, Social Services Wellbeing Act and other relevant legislation. You will be committed to anti oppressive practice and bring with you strong assessment, communication and planning skills. All our practitioners have the chance to influence the development of our work and are supported by an experienced Management Team both at Strategic and Operational levels.

We recognise that Social Work is professionally and personally challenging and demands considerable levels of skill, commitment, and enthusiasm. We offer a dedicated in house Learning and Development Centre which actively supports practitioners at each level to maintain their skills and Continuous Professional Development.

You must possess a recognised Social Work qualification, have 3 years post qualifying experience, be registered with Social Care Wales on appointment and have a proven track record of Social Work with children, young people, and their families.
