£34,788 plus a market supplement payable after the first year in practice. £1,000 per annum will be payable for year 2, followed by an additional £1,000 per annum for year 3. This payment will be paid pro rata on a monthly basis.

We are looking for a creative and resourceful Social Worker to join our busy Disabled Children’s Team. The post will be based within The Disabled Children's Team East at Ty Trevithick, Abercynon.

You will be responsible for assessing the needs of disabled children, devise care plans, commission services to address assessed needs and where appropriate use themselves as a resource to deliver time limited interventions. You must hold a relevant qualification e.g. Degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or C.Q.S.W and must be registered as a ‘Social Worker’ with Social Care Wales.

You will have a sound knowledge of the social model of disability and will champion the rights and interests of disabled children. An understanding of the needs of carers together with an awareness of child protection issues and relevant legislation is also required.

You will work with disabled children aged 5 – 18 years with complex health and social care needs. You will have an appreciation of the importance of teamwork in meeting those needs, and have an understanding of the impact of disability on children and their families.

You will have the ability to work flexibly, balancing the need to respond to crisis situations with the day-to-day demands of your allocated caseload.

Good communication skills are crucial to the role as you will be required to interact effectively with a range of individuals including disabled children, family members, staff from partner agencies and members of the public. You will be willing to learn and effectively utilise Information Technology programs and data capture systems, as required.
