The Strategic Projects Section is responsible for the appraisal, design, construction, supervision and project management of a wide variety of exciting and challenging projects, including reclamation, drainage, ground stability, contaminated land and highway. The Strategic Projects section also has responsibility for Flood & Tips Risk Management and Traffic Management.

We are seeking to appoint a suitable person to assist primarily within the Flood Risk Management area of the service. The person will be able to contribute to the functions required under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 by maintaining and developing databases, GIS layers and web based information.

In addition, the person will contribute to the functions required under the Mines and Quarries Tips Act 1969 by undertaking Tip Inspections and assisting in the continuous review of the inspection schedule. The post holder will also undertake Flood Investigations, site investigations, surveys and assist in responding to complaints and queries in accordance with council policy.

It is essential that applicants have a good knowledge of Drainage or General Construction with Knowledge of water/environmental engineering being desirable. Experience in, Inspection of and Reporting on Assets and Supervision and quality control of contracts is essential and experience in surveying, environmental sampling and asset management is desirable.
