In collaboration with 160th (Welsh) Brigade, the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) secured funding to appoint four Regional School Liaison Officers (RSLO) for Service Children in Wales from September 2020. This project is subject to grant funding, which is currently secured until 31st March 2025.

Hosted by four lead local authorities, for which Rhonda Cynon Taf is one, the RSLOs work regionally and are each responsible for the activities in five/six local authorities. The RSLO for this post will be responsible for Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend, Rhonda Cynon Taf and Merthyr local authorities.

In this role the RSLO will work collaboratively with the SSCE Cymru Programme Manager to deliver activities linked to a work plan, which will embed sustainable activities in schools and local authorities.

You will work with schools to promote SSCE Cymru resources and support schools in utilizing the tools available, with a focus on embedding good practice related to supporting Service Children in education.

Your role will be to support schools to understand the experiences and needs of Service Children and embed activities that will ensure sustainable support systems.

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and resourceful individual with experience of working in an education setting to support children and young people.  You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team and be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service.
