We are seeking to recruit a key individual to drive our Cyber Security initiatives and ensure our protection and compliance. This role is key to help define our future digital direction, influence our stakeholders, and increase Cyber Security levels within the ICT Service and across the breadth of the Council. We want to provide the best secure solutions to allow service improvement and support delivery of our services safely, efficiently, and effectively.

This new role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of our team leading exciting transformation programmes that will deliver our priorities for the Council. We need an ambitious, innovative, effective Cyber Security leader and highly skilled enterprise security technology specialist to join the team as a Cyber Security Lead.

Leading and working within collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams, you will have proven large-scale Cyber design experience, have provided quality assurance and transition into support and delivery of modern desktop user solutions. You will have a proven track record of translating complex requirements into delivered security designs, also you will have proven delivery of solutions that will effectively enable our business/ICT transformation.

The ideal candidate will be able to evidence examples of when they have developed strategies for delivering Cyber Security protection and dealing with compliance frameworks. Key frameworks include Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials +, others include PSN, BACS and PCI. Technology skills should include Firewalls, EndPoint protection, Network Security, connectivity solutions like VPN and Email Hygiene solutions. This is key to the role as we change our services, moving to remote workstyles and moving applications and systems to cloud.  

You must be creative, with a ‘can–do’ approach and have detailed experience of project delivery. Digitally savvy, you will be able to successfully challenge traditional ideas and ways of thinking, as well as having the proven ability to effectively deliver secure technology solutions and lead incidents and resolutions.

A proven approach to self-development is key in a fast-moving area. Qualifications in industry qualifications like CISSP and/or CISM are expected.

 Within this role you will:

  • Provide excellent knowledge of current cyber threats and mitigations.
  • Provide excellent knowledge of Network infrastructure and architectures.
  • Deliver risk assessment, analysis and proactive incident management.
  • Support development of safe and secure solutions to underpin the Council’s Digital Strategy, including leading specific projects to affect change.
  • Lead security solution selection, design production and commissioning within the Council, performing a role in Technical Design Authority across multiple technology areas delivering holistic security across technology stacks.
  • Lead incident responses and provide guidance for integration of solutions including Networks, Firewalls and IDS, client/server, endpoint protection, anti-malware, hygiene, and applications.
  • Have extensive knowledge across Cyber Security technologies within an Enterprise Architecture and proven track record of delivering multiple cross technology security solutions.
  • Have a proven track record delivering security in projects and programmes of work
  • Support our service teams with guidance and drive the development of security skills within the service
