The Flood Risk Management Team are responsible for a wider range of regulatory functions principally identified within the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991: 

  • Regulatory functions (Consenting and Enforcement),
  • Developing and Maintaining a Local Strategy
  • Flood Investigations,
  • Asset Management,
  • Sustainable Drainage Approval,
  • Flooding Awareness and Communication. 

The team further delivers a wide range of Flood Alleviation schemes which includes, Natural Flood Risk Management, Sustainable Drainage, Property Flood Resilience/Resistance measures along with more traditional interventions to mitigate flooding from ‘local sources’ (Surface Water, Ground Water and Ordinary Watercourses).

We are seeking to appoint a suitable person to assist with the ‘Strategic Flood Risk Management functions’ associated to the Land Drainage Authority (LDA), Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Sustainable Drainage Approval Body (SAB). The post will assist in the implementation of the Flood Risk Management Plan for RCT, assist with the development of a communication strategy including the enhancement and maintenance of RCT’s website on all flood risk management matters.  

The role will also support the wider responsibilities of the LLFA, SAB and LDA regulatory bodies and may assist with the management of resources, within the FRM team along with Assisting the development of community and/or individual flood plans, support public consultations and coordinate with internal departments to assist communities and to respond to complaints, queries, and information requests.

It is essential that applicants have a knowledge of community engagement techniques and Information Management and must be able to work effectively with professional partners and with the community.
