Social Care - Adults
Community and Children's Services
Adult Social Work Services
Grade 7
£26,845
Temporary Full Time

Following the development of a new and innovative project, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a new role within Adult Services, on a temporary/secondment basis for 2 years.

The new Microenterprise Project will be delivering creative and flexible support options to individuals across RCT.  Working with Community Catalysts this post will be essential in connecting individuals with local resources, to ensure a bespoke care and support package that delivers high quality services, tailored to meet specific needs – whilst keeping people in control of the services they receive.

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic person who can work with professionals, individuals, their families, and unpaid carers, in line with the requirements and principles of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014.

The successful candidate will offer a variety of support that enables individuals to achieve their outcomes, as identified within their care and support plans. This support must be flexible and may range from providing information and advice, to offering practical support in relation to setting up their Microenterprise arrangements.

As the Microenterprise project is new within the Local Authority, the postholder will be expected to have the skills support the development of new approaches and promote the service widely.  This will involve establishing effective professional relationships, seeking opportunities for collaboration and requires strong communication skills.

Although there will be plenty of support, you will be expected to work autonomously using innovation and self-direction.  The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written skills and must be computer literate. You will need to be organised, self-motivated and be able to prioritise competing demands on your time as well as being creative and resourceful and have a strong belief in empowering and enabling adults towards independence.

Professional development is encouraged and expected in RCT, and the Council has an excellent training department with varied opportunities to participate in training. There will also be more specialised training offered, specific to the role, and a high level of support offered by your manager.  Regular professional supervision is provided, and you will also have opportunity to become involved in peer group supervision.

It would be desirable for candidates to have previous experience of working in a care management or social care role within Adult Services, with knowledge and understanding of working within adult health / social care and be conversant with all current legislation in Wales.

If you feel you can make a difference to social care in RCT, and you think you have the necessary skills attributes and expertise to make this role a success, please get in touch.  For further information or an informal discussion please contact Catherine Silver on 01443 744055.

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.

In addition to this safeguarding responsibility, the successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.

The Council values diversity in its workforce. We are committed to ensuring that no unlawful discrimination occurs in the recruitment and selection process on the grounds of age, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, transgender, including those with non-binary identities, religion or belief or pregnancy and maternity. We offer a number of staff networks for employees including the Allies Network, a Disability and Carers Network and Perthyn our LGBTQ+ Network.
