SOCIAL WORKER  (TAF ELY CMHT)

Applications are invited for a Social Work Post in the Taf Ely Community Mental Health Team, based at Ty Draw in Pontypridd. The team consists of Social Workers, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and an Occupational Therapist.

The post holder will be required to work as part of a team and understand the strengths and challenges of multi-disciplinary working and be able to deliver an effective and efficient service to the public. They will be required to undertake assessments of individuals' needs and those of their carers, co-produce and implement Care and Treatment Plans where necessary and to act as a Care Co-ordinator. They will need to work in accordance with key legislative requirements such as the Mental Health Measures Wales (2010), The Mental Health Act (1983) and the Mental Capacity Act (2005). The candidate will also need to have an understanding of the principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act (2014).

The role is challenging and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate an  understanding and commitment to a recovery-based approach to the delivery of social care services.

Regular professional supervision and support will be provided. There will be a wide range of opportunities for professional development e.g. CPEL Post Qualifying awards / training to become a Best Interest Assessor in relation to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2007) and potentially gaining The Approved Mental Health Professional qualification. Additional enhanced payment will be given to candidates with the Approved Mental Health Professionals qualification and undertaking the role within the position.

Possession of a recognised professional qualification i.e. degree in social work, diploma in social work or CQSW is essential. Applicants must also be registered with Social Care Wales.
