We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our team.

The successful candidate must possess a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent. EHRB registered or CIEH board registered Environmental Health Practitioner is desirable criteria. If not registered, we will require the person to undertake the appropriate pathway to become a professionally registered EHP accredited by the CIEH within 18 months of employment.  Assistance towards professional registration is available.

Experience in food hygiene inspections and investigation of communicable diseases is desirable. An ability to close a food business is desirable.

You will undertake routine food hygiene inspections as well as those in new businesses. You will routinely investigate infectious diseases and will investigate requests for service that are received from members of the public, food businesses and local councillors / members. In addition you will have your own workload whilst providing support to technical staff within the team.  

This is a permanent full time role, based within the Public Health & Protection Department at Ty Elai Williamstown.  You will need to be flexible to meet the requirements of the post and ensure the Council meets its Statutory Duties, including working evenings and weekends.
