Extra Care Team

Looking for a challenge? Enjoy supporting people? We are currently seeking to recruit enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join our team of Social Care Workers providing support to individuals within our new Extra Care facility in Pontypridd (Cwrt Yr Orsaf).

Experience of supporting people within a social care setting is desirable but not essential, as successful applicants will be expected to bring their own life experiences and skills to the role. You will be provided with an induction, ongoing training and supervision to carry out your work effectively.

We are interested in hearing from people who are reliable,  willing to learn new skills and have the ability to use their own initiative.

Successful candidates will be required to hold the care qualification NVQ/QCF level 2 in Health & Social Care or demonstrate commitment to work towards it. You will be supported to register with Social Care Wales and the strong partnership we have with our dedicated in house training department ensures that learning support meets the needs of our staff on an individualised basis. We will also reimburse payment of registration fees promptly.

The service operates 365 days a year and rotas are provided in advance and we endeavour to offer as much flexibility to meet your needs as possible. Our care staff work 5 days out of 7, including but not limited to; evenings, weekends, Bank holidays including Christmas & New Year. The role will also require the ability to work night shifts. As a casual member of staff, you will be expected to cover all types of shifts, sometimes at short notice.

For an informal chat or simply to learn more about the role before you apply please contact Paul Stephens, who will be pleased to talk to you on 07392193773

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.

We are committed to ensuring that no unlawful discrimination occurs in the recruitment and selection process on the grounds of age, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, transgender, including those with non-binary identities, religion or belief or pregnancy and maternity. We offer a number of staff networks for employees including the Allies Network, a Disability and Carers Network and Perthyn our LGBTQ+ Network.

An application submitted for this post in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.

In view of the large number of Application Forms which are currently being submitted individual applications are not acknowledged. Consequently if you do not hear from us within four weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application is unsuccessful on this occasion. In which case you are thanked for the interest you have shown in applying for a position within the Council. Rhondda Cynon Taf welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

In support of the Council’s voluntary pledge to support the Armed Forces, the recruiter must always be prepared to ensure that applicants who have identified themselves as members of the Armed Forces including Service Leavers, Veterans, Reservists or Spouses and who meet the essential criteria of the person specification, are offered an interview.
