Central South Consortium – Joint Education Service

 ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE TOGETHER

Building capacity through the Central South Wales Challenge

STATISTICIAN/ ANALYST

The Central South Consortium, comprising the five Local Authorities of Bridgend, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Vale of Glamorgan, is working in partnership to deliver ambitious arrangements for school improvement through the Central South Wales Challenge. Collectively with our schools, we are determined that all children and young people, in every school, will experience the best possible conditions in which to realise their potential and that we close the gap between the most disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

A vacancy has arisen in the data, quality and intelligence unit (DQIU) for a statistician/analyst. The DQIU is responsible for the availability of accurate and timely analysis of educational data, at pupil, school, local authority, regional and All Wales level. This data enables the Consortium to track and monitor pupil and school performance, to set targets and in turn measure the achievement of these. It will essentially provide a vital resource to enable Challenge Advisors to challenge and monitor schools, to drive up standards across the Region.

This role will be responsible for the collation, analysis and presentation of educational data. The post will also be a member of the development team for implementation of a new business intelligence reporting system to be used by all areas of the organisation and will be central to the production of reports for the Region.

The successful candidate will need to be educated to degree level which should include a statistical focus and ideally have previous knowledge of handling school improvement data and business analysis tools, e.g. SQL, SSRS, MS Power BI, Tableau. Candidates should also have experience of partnership working, as well as utilising databases including the input, retrieval and collation of statistical data and management information.

This is a permanent post. Prospective applicants are welcome to contact Margaret Parrish, Senior Management Information Officer, or Dr. Caryl Stokes, Data, Quality and Intelligence Unit for an informal discussion. Telephone: (01443) 827572.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
