An opportunity has arisen to recruit a full time Outreach and Peripatetic Residential Child Care Practitioner (RCCP) to support children’s residential placements throughout RCT.  Working across five residential children’s homes, you will have the opportunity to actively engage in a wide variety of work to support individual children and young people, and group living environments. Candidates will be required to travel independently for this role given the geographical locations of our residential home’s.

 As an Outreach RCCP, you will be part of a large experienced residential team, that provide safe, nurturing home’s for children and young people, led and supported by a Registered Manager’s, and experienced Senior staff.

Successful applicants will be committed to improving the lives of children with complex needs and those who have experienced childhood trauma. Providing care and support across our residential placements, you will need to be motivated to work creatively with a high level of active engagement in activities and direct work. You will be supported and trained to practice in a therapeutic environment, utilising the Trauma Recovery Model of care. Much of your role will be spent supporting individuals to work through their individual experiences, with the goal of aiding recovery and building resilience, to achieve their personal goals.

This will involve you providing emotional and physical support to enable children and young people to reach their full potential, sometimes in challenging situations. This will include working actively with those receiving a service, families and professionals to ensure care and support is personalised to meet individual needs.

To succeed in the role, you must be passionate, patient and committed to those you work with, and the professional standards of the role.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • An ability to work flexibly – Work patterns will include day afternoon and occasional nights, in addition to working weekends, bank holidays and sleep in duties.

You will be expected to hold, or be prepared to work towards the QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or predecessor qualification NVQ Level 3 (Children and Young People). You will be registered with Social Care Wales, either on appointment, or following completion of the Induction Framework.
