We are looking to recruit an Engineer within the busy Street Lighting and Traffic Signals team in the Infrastructure Asset Management Section of the Highways and Streetcare Services Division.

The successful candidate will be required to assist in the provision of a high quality Highway Infrastructure Service. The duties and main functions of the role will include;

  1. Being responsible for the day to day maintenance and management of Council owned street lighting assets.
  2. To contribute to the control and monitoring of the Street Lighting budgets.
  3. Contributing to the development, co-ordination and implementation of Street Lighting programmes.
  4. Ensuring that complaints, queries and requests for service are responded to effectively and efficiently.
  5. Ensuring that projects are delivered to time, budget and specification requirements and successfully manage the progress of projects through all preliminary stage, design and construction.

Possession of a relevant (or evidence of working towards) and Engineering qualification e.g. HNC is essential.

Knowledge of highway infrastructure maintenance and street lighting issues is essential.

Knowledge of ICT is essential.

The successful candidate will undertake a hybrid working policy where time will be divided between working from home and working at the office. The successful candidate will also be required to hold a valid driving license to be able to drive around the authority to investigate faults, complaints and attend meetings.

The contracted hours will be 37 hours.
