The Council is once again preparing to recruit to its Graduate Programme that provides fantastic opportunities to work in a vibrant environment, learn new and transferable skills, meet people from a range of backgrounds and develop a professional career in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The role will provide on-the-job training and support attendance at college, a competitive salary, the option of joining the Council’s Pension Scheme, 25 days annual leave (in a full year) and the opportunity to access other benefits such as subsidised membership fees for Council run Leisure Centres within Rhondda Cynon Taf and a staff benefits scheme.

Corporate Design operate within the Corporate Estates service area and is an ‘in house’ multidisciplinary professional service unit that provides service support to clients across the authority. The service comprises of project management, building surveying, construction management, quantity surveying, mechanical and electrical engineering with project officers further supporting the main disciplines.   The team provide support across the Council, offering project services to areas such as leisure, education, homes for the elderly and other corporate service groups.

We are seeking a graduate to work within the Project Management Team in Corporate Design and welcome applications from graduates with a degree qualification in building surveying, construction management, quantity surveying or any other construction related degree. Graduates with a non-cognate degree will be considered on their merits. The successful candidate shall assist the project management team in the delivery of a varied and diverse portfolio of projects. The team have recently embarked on the next tranche of 21st century school projects and the majority of experience and knowledge of the construction process will be gained in assisting the team within this strategically important portfolio. Experience will also be provided to allow the use of specialist software such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) for the production of detailed designs. Candidates will also gain experience in a wide range of other software when producing specifications, budget costs and project programmes.

You will be expected to possess excellent communication skills and able to communicate with clients and construction professionals both verbally and in writing and will assist the Project Management Team during all stages of the construction process. The role will require excellent organisational skills and candidates will be required to demonstrate a range of experience & technical skills developed through academic study.
